PAST-LIVE ATHENS - Innocence Is A Mistake

EXHIBITION: 11-13 April 2019
Ready-mades have gone a long way since Marcel Duchamp first signed a pissoir or Andy Warhol turned giant Brillo boxes into art installations. However, each time an artist seeks inspiration in Ready-mades, he looks for an answer to the question: what is civilization?
Visual artist Yuting Cai (China/UK) looks for ready-made objects that incarnate the material, aesthetical and symbolical tradition of the 5.000 years old Mediterranean metropolis Athens.
"The object I am looking for is more about the historical and daily urban context", Yuting says. "It is sometimes a specific thing in everyday life and sometimes it is just an emotion or memory".
In his solo show
Past-Live Athens: Innocence Is A Mistake Yuting Cai aims at creating a dialogue between "high" and "low" culture, using different aesthetical means and combining analogue and digital media. The visual results will be a cross-over of prepared 3D-computer models and individual images taken in Athens.
